I can think of countless times when an invention like this would have been great, especially on trips where we walk a lot or spend too much time standing. The folks at BagoBago had the brilliant idea to integrate a chair into a backpack.
Instead of just adding a chair, they’ve built a sturdy framework inside the backpack that allows it to transform into a chair in about ten seconds. The components that form the chair are housed inside, so the backpack maintains its regular shape and doesn’t take up extra space.
At its core, BagoBago is a backpack, but it could become an essential travel companion once it hits the market. It offers 22 liters of capacity, with numerous compartments, supports, and even ventilation for the back. Its size is perfect for taking on a plane.
The developers have been particularly mindful of the structure’s weight—only 432 grams—which rests on four legs that blend seamlessly into the bag when not in use, thanks to a magnetic compartment. Overall, the backpack weighs 1.6 kilograms.
In the video demonstration, you can see that we sit on the top, where a platform unfolds and lies flat. It can support up to 130 kilos and is both waterproof and washable (made from 100% PES Kortexin).
We wanted more details about the internal structure to better understand how it works—we see a metal frame similar to folding chairs—but there’s not much information on the official website. However, the design must be quite unique since it’s patented by the Czech company that developed it.
Even though it doesn’t seem like this backpack is seeking funding through platforms like Kickstarter or Indiegogo, it is already available for sale on their website for 129 euros. In our opinion, that’s a bit pricey.
