In 2009, thanks to a smart agreement between the government and the Terruzzi family, Villa Regina Margherita, which once belonged to Queen Margherita, was turned into a museum. The museum showcases various works like paintings, furniture, and porcelain from the Terruzzi collection. Unfortunately, due to historical events, the villa retains only a few furnishings from Queen Margherita’s time. It would have been great to see the spaces as the Queen had them in her winter residence.
Don’t miss the chance to enjoy the stunning views of Bordighera and the Italian Riviera all the way to the French coast from the rooftop terrace, which also has a coffee shop. A walk through the park surrounding the villa is also delightful. The only downside is finding parking; it’s challenging to find a spot near the villa and the climb might deter some visitors.
Tickets cost 8 euros, reduced tickets are 6 euros, and children under 6 enter for free. Guided tours are available for 10 euros on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Bordighera is in the province of Imperia, located between Ventimiglia and San Remo, which are 6 and 11 kilometers away, respectively (30 miles from Monte Carlo).
