Exploring Corsica's Enchanting Beach: Rondinara

Rondinara Beach is a stunning crescent of white sand surrounding a lagoon with vibrant Polynesian colors. This picturesque spot, protected by UNESCO, is located between Porto Vecchio and Bonifacio. You can hear the soothing sounds of cicadas as you enjoy the area.

Boats often head here to escape the hustle and bustle of Costa Smeralda. The dirt road (D 158) to get here is about 7 miles long and can be quite challenging. When the wind blows from the east, Rondinara offers the best shelter in the northern part of the gulf, making it an ideal place to anchor overnight. From here, you can’t see the open sea, so it feels like you’re in a secluded lagoon.

During the off-season, you’ll find cows leisurely wandering along the beach instead of tourists. Don’t miss the market at City Hall Square or the Sunday morning market in Porto Vecchio, where you can find delicious cheese, honey, and jams.

In Bonifacio, check out Hotel Genovese, located in a historic Navy building on the city’s ramparts. This hotel offers a beautiful view over the sea and the port. It’s in the Quartier de la Citadelle, and prices for a room start from 110 euros. Just a few kilometers from Rondinara, you can visit Palombaggia beach and dine at The Tamaricciu. This charming restaurant with a thatched roof serves salads and grilled fish. Prices here start at 20 euros.
